The whole family is packing up and going camping… after all my tech trouble, you wonder why I wish to give up my tech? LOL. It will be a nice break but busy with the children and camping. Bless you all and stay tuned next Saturday / Sunday for pictures from Camp Brookwood!

Sorry friends in Christ, my battery died during the Gospel, so no sermon today.
After three years of wanting to do this we finally went out to dinner as a Vestry. Ordinarily the Vestry takes a break in the summer, unless an emergency meeting is called for. Last Monday was our final meeting of the season, missing only three members. There was a ton of business to deal with but all in all we had a great time and it was a blessing for us to gather and enjoy each others company. Though it was “dutch,” all, I believe, are looking forward to doing this next year.

Sorry everyone, I have been tardy with my uploading of Sermons. Here are the past two weeks along with a special treat; The Feast of Saint John the Baptist, Evensong Service, from St. Barnabas, Greenfield. Jean Kinney on the organ.

Evensong from St. Barnabas: Play Now | Play in Popup | DownloadOver the past two weeks the parish has had the opportunity to congratulate a recent Carleton North High School student, and recipient of the Gold Cord for excellence (top 10 students receive this award): Brock Drost.
Brock and I really met when he chased me and destroyed my triceps in a game of capture the flag at Camp Brookwood. This past year he has been a regular parishioner missing church a handful of times. His great faith has been developed not at Sunday School but as a summer camper at Brookwood. A Sunday School teacher, rugby player, general nice and shy guy, and above all a brilliant mind, Brock is someone who will make an excellent addition to Dalhousie University and those in the faith community around the Halifax area.
We presented him with gifts of love and encouragement wishing him well as he enters the Academy with the hope of continuing in the field of medicine. Every blessing then and next week as he embarks on a lifelong dream of a summer being a Councilor at Camp Brookwood.

You can’t go many places on the technews side of the net without reading a story of Bill Gates’ retirement. As much as I know Steve Jobs has the superior OS and hardware (except that one booboo with my hard-drive), Bill Gates has produced major inovation and spured Apple to come up with more. Ultimately it has been great to have both and lately Linux. But without Bill, computers may have been 10 years behind.
I wish him well and every blessing. For a rich man he remains humble and gives everso generously to those in need.
Anyone who knows me, truly knows me, knows that I am a futbol fan. Soccer as it is know here in North America is a curiosity but little more. For the rest of the world it is the heart and soul of sport. What we as Canadians consider to be the religion of hockey pales in comparison to football in the the rest of the world. Here are my Euro 2008 thoughts.
Germany is to face Turkey… WOW… Turkey… a power emerging. Fenerbache is a European power and Turkey deserves to be there. The semi finals will be a big deal and my hope is Germany gets through. Yes, they are the favorites but Turkey is good. I do like Germany alot. Ballack, Lamb and Podolski are awesome and a force to be reckoned with.
Moments ago Spain beat Italy in penalties. I am 1/8 Spanish and thus a bit partial and though it was a tough match to follow as I am a big fan of Seria A in Italy. But truth be told, Espania has the better players… and England benefits, especially teams like Arsenal and Liverpool with Fabregas and Tores. I want Spain to beat Russia, yet Russia is such a better team with Arshavin.
For myself a final with Germany and Spain would be perfect. And from there I could not chose a side to support. Though part Spanish, Germany is an awesome team with an ethic I love. Spain has players I respect and so to chose a team would be awesome. Don’t be suprised if Turkey is playing Russia. You might not recall but Greece won Euro 2004.
I love futbol, love the beautiful game, watch TSN or Sportsnet this Wednesday and Thursday to see the games the final on Sunday will be incredible!
Here’s the link from Boing Boing. I know you all think I’m obsessed, but this issue is serious. Common people, doing nothing wrong, will be found so by the media industry. Fair use is only for the media companies and we shall have no say. ASIDE: my Mac died this week… hard drive failed. Enough said. I lost 50% of my stuff, but I have learnt a valuable lesson: back up Mac too… lol /slap myself.
Thanks Boing Boing for your article “Coffee may prevent heart disease”… just a month after I completely gave up caffeine.Herbal Tea FTW
