Visual Liturgy

No one can tell me that "Canterbury", ie. The Church of England, is stuck in the 16th Century.

Liturgical renewal is part of the established church after 50 years of use throughout the Anglican Communion. Yet the modernity within the English church is not just in it's constant drive to meet the liturgical need of the whole people of God in their current cultural context. The cultural context today should remind us of Marshall McLuhan's "the medium is the message"; in this case the computer is used to promote Christ in a very Anglican Way. Check out a wonderful tool:

Visual Liturgy! ...

YET even a computer geek like myself must say that there is nothing quite like a BCP, BAS and, of course, a Bible in one's hand to bring about that "feeling" of entering into prayer.

Maybe there are times when a prayer book and bible is similar to prayer beads in that they transport us in a tactile way to a space of prayer and meditation. Maybe one day a laptop or PC may be seen as tool that brings us into the presence of God... but I'm not holding my breath ;-)
