Pentecost 21: Mission Eucharist

This past Sunday the Rt. Rev'd Bill Hockin delivered a powerful sermon filled with proclaimation and vivid images. It was a very wonderful way to end the mission proper... now we must continue in Christ to carry out the mission.

A Mission on God's Love: 3rd Night

Tonight the Rev'd Chris Hayes challenged the parish to consider change and the implications of mission. It was a wonderful way to end our three night reflection on God's love and our call to respond to that love in kind. Here are the bulletin and address.

A Mission on God's Love: 2nd Night (update)

What a wonderful, albeit a bit chilly, night in Glassville where 25 came out from around the parish to sing praise and hear the Word. Tonight's focus was once again on God's never failing love as seen in the story of the Prodigal Son.

Here are the bulletin and the address for yesterday's Mission with the Rev'd Terence Chandra.

A Mission on God's Love: 1st Night

Last night 39 individuals gathering in the small country church in Greenfield gave praise to our Lord in song, in the hearing or the Word and in a mission address by the Rev'd Elaine Hamilton. We were joined by the wonderful voices of the McAloon Sisters.

Brookwood in October?

When we think about Camp Brookwood we think about Summer... not late Fall. Today though, amid the wind and leaves and dull grey sky, 13 people gathered at the Camp and in the chapel of St. Andrew's to worship the Lord! What a great and continued ministry our beloved camp provides to those who wish to gather in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Below are pictures of the day, where the Rev'd Terance Chandra led in music and praise, and Mr. Zach Till led in ... well strange, to me at least, DMX dancing.

Moulten Core

Last week on my day off I went to the Molten Core (MC). This is a 40 person raid instance in the game Sherry, Andrew, Cameron and I play. This is considered an Endgame instance and to think 40 people are needed to defeat this "boss". Here is a picture of what I see as a healer on my screen. This is just before the fight with Ragneros... who we killed.

I guess I have just assumed that everyone knows that the bulletin is provided with the readings used in the sermons. So if you wish to hear a sermon, find the bulletin for that Sunday and the readings that I preach on are there :-)

Visual Liturgy

No one can tell me that "Canterbury", ie. The Church of England, is stuck in the 16th Century.

Liturgical renewal is part of the established church after 50 years of use throughout the Anglican Communion. Yet the modernity within the English church is not just in it's constant drive to meet the liturgical need of the whole people of God in their current cultural context. The cultural context today should remind us of Marshall McLuhan's "the medium is the message"; in this case the computer is used to promote Christ in a very Anglican Way. Check out a wonderful tool:

Visual Liturgy! ...

YET even a computer geek like myself must say that there is nothing quite like a BCP, BAS and, of course, a Bible in one's hand to bring about that "feeling" of entering into prayer.

Maybe there are times when a prayer book and bible is similar to prayer beads in that they transport us in a tactile way to a space of prayer and meditation. Maybe one day a laptop or PC may be seen as tool that brings us into the presence of God... but I'm not holding my breath ;-)

Flock

FLOCK

I was just watching "Call for Help" on G4TV (Starchoice ch 514) and saw a great new Web Browser. It's still in beta so don't replace your current one but try it out.

If you are still using IE (Windows default web browser) you are missing alot and leaving yourself vulnerable to various Internet attacks. Go to Google and download FIREFOX. You will not regret it.
