Old Friends

I used to be quite a funny guy LOL. Mark and I always hamed it up and ate like bottomless pits... always at least 4-6 grilled cheese sandwiches.

Totem of Boys

CTM 1982

Yes I was young, and a Christian! I'm only one of the two now-a-days :-)

Back in 1982 I was on a Day Camps Traveling Team in Waterloo, Quebec in the Eastern Townships. I wonder if you can spot me :-D

BTW this is my first scanned image with a new scanner I bought this past week. I hope to save all of our photos that are just gathering dust downstairs.

The Emrgent Church: Brookwood

The context of Baptism is always in the Church, the Body of Christ, and in our tradition "in" church. What we mean by this is often a pulpit, stained glass, wood or stone walls, etc. At Camp Brookwood these past two years, Baptisms have occurred outside, with a traditional font and Pascal Candle, but in a meaningful way for the youths who attend senior camp.

In the Early Church the preparation was an intense 40 days and the ritual itself was very symbolic. It pointed to the journey from darkness into light, from death into life, from outside the church to inside the Church, this is why the font is mostly at the back of the church.

Brookwood exemplifies that journey and has brought young dedicated Christians who were once "outside" the Church inside, through witness, prayer and faith.

I am overjoyed that the person who I drove to Dusty's baptism, one year ago to the day, dedicated himself to the Lord, by receiving this sacrament among "his church" community. As much as we think of Camp Brookwood as a "camp" and nothing more, what I have come to realize is that it is a church, a community of believers who have committed themselves to this place, but more importantly to the support of one another in Christ Jesus.

It is with great joy that we join in thanksgiving for Sam Kelly, for his sponsors and family, and for the Rev'd Peter Gillies and the Rev'd Ellen Curtis. The church is emerging in a new way in some parts and we need to recognize the Lord's presence in these changes.

Friendship

It was quite something to get the call this week from a friend I had lost touch with these past 6 years. "Hello, Sal it's Kram" is how the conversation began. Back in the day, which by the way was 25 years ago, we refered to each other with our backwards names. Out of all my friendships, other than my wife, no one knows me like Mark does and it was great to hear that he and his family were comming to visit for a few days on their way to PEI to visit his mom. It was a great way to end my vacation. It will be nice to see him again next week as they spend the night on their way back home to Blainville, Qc.

Holiday Cheer

In these last few days of my holiday... which was mixed at best, though the weather was to my personal liking... I have a surprise guest on his way to the Rectory. I hope to just lay back and relax, have a few low carb beverages and chat about old times. How old? Well lets say over 25 years ago!

Gmail Add Ons and Tweeks

http://www.trendplex.com/editorials/top-10-gmail-tweaks

You all should know by now that I am a great fan of both Firefox (a web browser that replaces IE) and Gmail! Firefox has long had tweaks in the form of "Extensions". Gmail also has a ton, but the above link shows 10 of the best. Still using your "POP" account from Bell, Sympatico or Alient? Time to change... and don't get me started on Yahoo or MSN... both are yukky.

"Painter Paints"

... if I had a dollar for every time I've heard that ...

Anyway here's the first layer. I'll let it dry and in 3/5 days I'll put more detail, though I'm going for an Impressionist feel, so it will be blocky.

I'm going to eliminate the deck and the background, leaving just grass and focusing on the "Monk's Hood" and the various flowers in the foreground; again it's going to be quite muddied but hopefully bright in contrast to the dull green background. You should be able to see the dark areas in the painting actually in the jpg of the scene.

The Timid Pie Swims

BTW: the hair? Andrew, who was supposed to be watching her, didn't. She found a pair of safety scissors and decided to become the new Vidal Sassoon... . Mom & Dad are still very sad about the hair, but it will grow back.

Camp Brookwood

My hope was to take pictures at Brookwood, but it seems like I have lost my Camera at the Forestry Complex where we were staying: it's only money :-(

Anyway I will be at the Camp this week and then on Vacation. Keep us all in your prayers.
