Mom: Update

Sorry with all the drama at th Rectory, I forgot to inform you all that my mom is recovering and is due to return home today. The operation was quite long, but the Doctor has said that he got all of the cancer.

Of course keep those prayers coming, and also think about some of your friends and family, some you haven't seen or heard from in a while and pray for them also.

FIRE!

We're certainly not boring.

After a frantic diner of Tandoori Chicken, Channa Gobi Balti, Tarka Dahl and Pappadams,Thursday evening, Sherry and I decided to go upstairs and watch TV before cleaning up. We thought all on the stove was off, but it wasn't, and their was hot, hot, oil. The whole house is covered in soot and stinks. My brand new iMac seems fine but the keyboard is filthy with the soot... I'm near tears, BUT we are all alive. Liam found the fire, got his brother while screaming fire, Cameron thought fast and got the fire extinguisher, Andrew used it while Cam got Pippa out of the house. As the fire chief said, the boys saved the Rectory by their quick and calm reactions.

Prayers: My Mom

Please remember Norma Painter in your prayers as she has Breast Cancer surgery this day. With the state of her heart this is a rough day. Also today is my Dad, Eric's, birthday.

The Sermon: Pentecost162007.wav

*the sermon was given in Glassville and recorded with my "Q" phone. I'm very disatisfied with the quality but at least I have figured out how to get the voice note off the phone and on to the Mac.

Diocesan Council Weekend

Quiet

It's been very quiet here on the blog. It's been a very busy week and doesn't look like slowing down until Tuesday of next week when I will take a day of rest then. Tomorrow I will be in Fredericton again for Diocesan Council and the Team Chairs meeting. The former will last until late Saturday afternoon.

I might Vlog something tonight but don't expect something astounding :-)

Blessings to you all.

OH YES... if you have a prayer request, just mention the persons first name and maybe the issue needed to be prayed for: NO LAST NAMES. And I will be sure and keep them in my prayers this week.

Colour Change [edit]

Fooling around with the Background and text, please be patient while under construction.

I think I'm done [Sat. 7pm]. It's using the same colours as the .Mac profile. I may change the font if I can, but it's not important at this point. I like changing the site and this seems to have fit my desire to go lighter.

Lay Readers Dinner

Last night the Lay Readers and I went out to the Florenceville Motor Inn for supper and a chance to speak on matters pertaining to the leadership of worship within the parish. The picture shows, Allison Green, myself, Joan Tremblay and Margory Smith. Keep us all in your prayers as well as the hope for a new lay reader to emerge.

St. Barnabas, Greenfield Field Trip

Another Video Blog... a Vlog... this one being on the preparations and material I will be using with the Sunday School Children on their Field Trip. Have fun and enjoy.

20000 Views

In two and a half years this little site has past 20,000 views. Some sites get this in a day... for a rural priest, this ain't bad :-) Thanks and I hope to keep it going.

YouTube Subscribe

I haven't posted anything recently, but I do intend to become a regular YouTube poster. It is beneficial to "subscribe" to pastorpainter at YouTube http://youtube.com/profile?user=pastorpainter it at least helps me know how many people are interested in knowing when a new video is up.

Ravenna Mosaics: Father Matthew Presents

Another great offering from Fr. Matthew. What have I received from this? We need more art within our churches to tell the story!

New iStuff

Unless you have been hiding under a tree the past 10 years in some luddite bliss, you'll know that Apple Computers came up with a little thing called the iPod. It plays music and has taken over from record palyers, turn-tables, Walkmans and most portable devices. Today Apple, most notably their founder Steve Jobs, announced the new line up. The shear size of these things boggles. You can put 40,000 songs in the palm of your hand now... 160 Gigabytes. But now they have a companion to their iPhone (the fastest selling phone in the US... unfortunately you can't use it in Canada since our internet cost is so high that Apple can't sell a product that would end up cost $300 in Aliant / Bell / Telus / Rogers bills a month). The new iPod Touch is a thing of beauty and it has WiFi which means that it now can go on the road and be used to get on the internet WITHOUT the phone company. This is compelling and will soon become their best seller. they also have a deal with Starbucks... only important if you live in Fredericton or an urban centre. It is exciting and I want one... lust is a bad thing... So I'm going to head off to Centreville's mid week service and confess my techie-lust. Thou Shall Not Covet... Thy Neighbours iThing.

File Conversions

How many times have I received a Wordperfect doc and not been able to open it properly. Well I came across a great web-app today that you must bookmark if you encounter files that you can't open. It's a great site and does work... I tried it :-)

Pentecost 14

Not the best quality but better than nothing; I'm trying. The sermon was recorded with Andrew's Creative "Zen V Plus" in the default "wav" format and not mp3 as I prefer. It's a bit scratchy but will make due while I price the options out there.
